ABOUT
I am Elçin Göktan, a textile pattern designer living in Istanbul. I graduated from Marmara University, Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Traditional Turkish Arts, specializing in carpet, textile printing, and weaving design. Throughout my professional career, I have worked with international and local brands such as Vakko, Inditex Group (Zara, Bershka, Pull & Bear, Stradivarius) operating under the umbrella of ACT Tekstil (Türkmen Holding), Marks & Spencer, and later Koton. My design approach focuses on balancing aesthetics, culture, and storytelling. I aim to transform surfaces into visual narratives by combining traditional inspiration with contemporary design. Today, I continue my journey as a freelance pattern designer, creating original designs for fashion, textiles, and interior products while also providing creative consultancy.

DESIGN PROCESS
It is shaped by the harmony of collaboration and creative steps. The process includes the following steps.
1. Meeting and Concept Development: During our initial meeting, details such as the design subject, concept, pattern size, and color palette will be clarified.
2. Research and Idea Development: Taking into account current trends and industry dynamics, and in line with your brand's style, research is conducted and ideas are developed.
3. Sketching and Collecting: Based on the data obtained from the research and ideation phase, a contemporary pattern collection is prepared that is suitable for the brand's concept and style.
‘’At every step, care is taken to ensure that the design process is consistent with the brand identity, creative, and functional.’’
BUSINESS ETHICS
&
DESIGN PRINCIPLES
-I believe that the design process and the proposed solutions should have both material and moral value. This value should not put the parties in a difficult position, lead to disagreements, and should move the process forward constructively. -During the design process, payment must be made for each design drawing requested by the brand owner or design team, after the designer has completed the drawing. Payment must be made for each design shared, even if its use in the collection is decided against. -Throughout the entire process, solutions and design proposals should be presented constructively and professionally, without creating complex or major problems between the parties. I believe it is important that mutual professional responsibilities and ethical requirements are remembered as crucial.
